Tomi Dayo-Isijola is the managing partner Sparxe Limited, a tech-consulting firm based in Lagos, Nigeria. He has over 17years working experience, with proven expertise and delivery in IT, Real Estate, Healthcare, Energy/Power-related service sectors in Nigeria. As a trainer he has successfully delivered various instructor-led training programs physically and virtually to a wide audience (700+) – including fresh graduates to senior/C-level executives for over a decade. An intensive, 2-day Quality Management System (QMS) Internal Auditor course must pivot quickly from foundational theory to practical application. To keep energy high and ensure skill retention, this syllabus structure balances core content with interactive workshops and live role-playing.

Course Objectives

By the end of this 2-day session, participants will be able to:

  • Decode ISO 9001:2015 requirements through an auditor’s lens.
  • Plan and prepare localized, risk-based audit checklists.
  • Gather objective evidence confidently using professional interviewing techniques.
  • Classify, write, and report clear Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) that drive improvement.

Day 1: Foundations & The Auditor’s Lens

Day 1 focuses on clarifying the “why” behind quality management and translating standard clauses into dynamic, auditable processes.

Session Title

Focus & Core Activities

Module 1: The Core of QMS

Introduction to Quality Management Principles (QMPs), High-Level Structure, and the PDCA cycle.

Activity: Small-group breakdown mapping organizational objectives to customer expectations.

Module 2: Navigating the Standard (Part 1)

Demystifying Clauses 4, 5, and 6 (Context, Leadership, & Planning). Learn to audit risk-based thinking without looking for “just a registry.”

Module 3: Navigating the Standard (Part 2)

Deep dive into Clauses 7, 8, 9, and 10 (Support, Operations, Performance, & Improvement).

Activity: Real-world scenario analysis to spot operational gaps.

Module 4: Initiating the Audit

Introduction to ISO 19011 auditing guidelines. Defining scope, objectives, and creating customized audit trails.

Workshop 1: Designing a process-focused audit checklist based on a sample company profile.

Day 2: The Art of Auditing & Reporting

Day 2 shifts entirely into execution—putting tools into practice, managing communication hurdles, and generating documentation.

Managing opening meetings, interviewing top management, and collecting verifiable objective evidence.

Module 6: Live Audit Simulation

Workshop 2 (Role-Play): Participants split into auditors and auditees. Instructors introduce curveballs (e.g., defensive auditees, missing files) to build confidence.

Module 7: Evaluating Findings & Writing NCRs

Classifying audit findings (Major vs. Minor Non-Conformances vs. Opportunities for Improvement).

Workshop 3: Writing legally tight, factual, and actionable Non-Conformance Reports.

Module 8: Closing the Loop

Mastering closing meetings, reporting final insights, and evaluating corrective action responses.

Final knowledge check/quiz and feedback session.
